XJT Negotiations Update

Your IAM joint contract negotiations committee met from Monday, January 9 and continued through Thursday, January 12, 2017 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Your committee exchanged several proposals with the Company on the following Sections:

Section 4, Scheduling – Our focus this session was on bidding, deadhead, part-time program, work rules and reserves. While we are making progress in this Section, there are still outstanding issues we are addressing. Your committee is fully aware of the impact this section has on your quality of life and we remain steadfast in our positon to provide you industry leading working conditions.

Section 8, Vacation – Your committee presented this comprehensive section to the Company during our last session and is still awaiting a response from the Company.

Section 26, Benefits – We have exchanged proposals on this Section, however your committee is critically reviewing the impact this will have on our membership.

As of this session, the following sections of the JCBA are open:

Section 3, Compensation Section 11, Leaves of Absence Section 4, Scheduling Section 14, Moving Expenses Section 6, Training Section 26, Benefits Section 8, Vacation Section 27, Duration Section 10, OJI Section 30, System Seniority List

As your Negotiating Committee continues to negotiate the Scheduling section and look for ways to resolve the inequalities between both contracts, we attempt to work with the company on the financial challenges they have expressed while protecting the interest of our Flight Attendants. We are approaching some of the most challenging sections that are associated with compensation.

The mediator has scheduled the next negotiations session for February 20 – 23, 2017, in Phoenix, Arizona.
