The 13th annual Women In Leadership Development Conference took place this past weekend in East Brunswick, NJ where more than 180 women from various organizations attended. The focus of this 2-day conference was building leadership skills, the history of women in the labor movement and how we need to fight for our economic future.
I had the honor and privilege, thanks to both the support of this local as well as our IAM leadership, to be a facilitator and educate members in Common Sense Economics. This workshop, along with the "Next Generation" program facilitated by USW District 4 members, focused on job justice, becoming activists and educating members on our past and present economy.
I used this time to also inform and educate our WILD sisters on issues that flight attendants have faced in our recent history such as the "no knives" campaign, the "Bridge the Gap" campaign and the "IAM for 10" campaign.
I look forward to continuing to represent the members of this local as well as being a member of the Young Workers Advisory Council for the NJ AFL CIO. Thank you again for this opportunity.
