President's Message

Brothers and Sisters,

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who participated in this years' Local Lodge election. Secondly, I'd like to thank those members who took the time to vote, either through absentee ballots or in person. It's extremely important that you are active in voting for your local representatives. I know that the newly elected board will work harder than ever to represent the Newark Local and be leaders for all the flights attendants of ExpressJet.

Many concerns were raised during this election process and I want you to know that they have been heard. Although I am a mother of two young girls, my family fully supports me and my endeavors in representing our flight attendant group to the fullest. The labor movement as a whole and our own IAM have fought extremely hard to allow women to have the ability to have a family, while still maintaining the ability to be leaders in the workplace. It is due to the hard work and sacrifice of those that came before me, that I had the amazing opportunity to take time off when necessary on maternity leave, while still remaining an active leader within our local.  I will honor their sacrifice by working hard for the membership of 2339N every single day.

We already have boots on the ground getting plans of action together to get our Local Lodge even more involved and bring forth stronger solidarity within our membership. Changes will be made for the better and that is due to your strong voices.

I look forward to serving you for the next three years and am so honored to be your President elect.

In solidarity,

Carli Meneses

President
